The Role

We have an exciting position as Local History Supervisor to join our team on a Permanent basis.

The primary responsibility of the Local History Supervisor is to provide effective and professional library and information service to the community of Port Hedland with a particular focus on the Local History Collection. The Local History Supervisor will contribute to the management, acquisition, preservation, and access of the Town of Port Hedland’s physical and digital local history collection.

Our ideal applicant will have experience specialising in the management of local history resources and provision of associated services. As you lead and support the Town’s Local History and digital online presence, you will be able to use your previous experience in supervising and directing team members. A high level of writing and verbal communication skills, as well as fast and efficient data entry skills utilising Microsoft Office suite and similar corporate applications. The successful candidate will also require excellent time management skills, high attention to detail and have a proactive attitude.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Completion of relevant qualifications in history/heritage and/or information and library services or relevant demonstrated experience.
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers license
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • First Aid Qualification
