GIS Officer

The opportunity
To maintain existing and populate new Geographical Information System (GIS) datasets. You will also be required to provide support, management and advice on geographic information and show initiative in developing innovative GIS solutions to support corporate business and management priorities.
In this role you will:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the accuracy and integrity of Council's GIS and Asset tracking systems.
- Collect field survey data and interpret "as-constructed" asset data from various sources for efficient system entry.
- Provide GIS advice, products, and support to internal Council departments, external customers, and the IT team, including managing Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) requests.
- Investigate emerging technologies, propose process improvements for community/organisational efficiency, and manage projects to meet agreed timelines.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
- Hold a degree in spatial science, geographical information and data analysis or another relevant field.
- Hold a current and valid class "C" driver's licence.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in GIS administration specifically using IntraMaps, Pozi, QGIS, and/or PostGIS.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities as well as plan and organise one's own work to achieve set objectives in the most efficient way possible within the available resources and timeframe.
- Well-developed people and relationship skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment communicating and motivating effectively at all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service
- Proven ability to ensure data integrity through demonstrated attention to detail and quality data input.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $46.09 per hour with progression up to $52.16 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
