Property Officer
About the role
As Property Officer, you will be part of Council’s Property and Facilities Branch which delivers property and facilities management services that support Council's assets, services and community outcomes.
Reporting to the Property Services Manager, you will help deliver Council’s land, property and tenancy management objectives to optimise the use of Council’s land.
In this role, you will use your experience in leasing, land management and transaction negotiation to support a wide range of low to medium risk tenancy arrangements across Council’s community and/or commercial property holdings. You will also perform a variety of land management functions including encroachment management, road closure and openings and encumbrance management.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Operational property management activities for Council’s commercial and community property holdings including community, cultural, commercial, sporting, telecommunications and retail tenancies
- Support in the facilitation of low/medium risk and value negotiations for new and renewing tenancy agreements, acquisition and disposal of interests in land
- Negotiate conditions associated with the use of Council owned or managed land with both internal and external stakeholders
- Undertake property investigations, due diligence, human right impact assessments and cultural and Native Title research to identify risks and inform decision making
- Prepare clear, high-quality briefing notes, reports and documentation to support property transactions and decisions
- Maintain accurate property records, systems and documentation to support effective portfolio management

About you
We are looking for someone who can bring strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to property and land management matters. To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in property/legal transactions or government environment
- Good communication skills with the ability to provide technical advice and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
- Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Local Government or Business Administration desirable
- Current Queensland C class driver’s licence

This is a permanent full-time position, with a salary commencing at $97,386 plus 12.5% superannuation.
