Your New Role:

Kempsey Shire Council are seeking an organised and proactive Project Officer to support the delivery of Council's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Capital Works Program.

Working closely with the Senior Program Manager, Project Managers and Coordinators, you will contribute to the planning, coordination, reporting and administration of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure recovery projects. You will play a key role in supporting project governance, maintaining project controls, preparing performance reporting, coordinating grant administration activities and managing project information to support successful project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project professional who enjoys working across multiple projects and stakeholders while contributing to the delivery of infrastructure that supports community recovery and resilience.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Draft specifications, tender documents and project plans.
  • Support project governance, controls and reporting activities.
  • Assist Project Managers to monitor project scope, budgets, schedules and performance.
  • Prepare and maintain project and program reports, dashboards and performance information.
  • Support grant applications, funding reports and acquittals.
  • Maintain project management systems, databases and reporting tools.
  • Monitor project information and assist with data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting project and operational risks.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and stakeholder requests.
  • Support compliance with Council policies, funding requirements and legislative obligations.

About You:

You are a motivated and detail-oriented project professional with experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure, construction or capital works projects. You have a sound understanding of project management principles and enjoy working in a collaborative environment where organisation, communication and attention to detail are critical to success.

You are confident preparing reports, managing project information and supporting governance processes, while building positive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and funding agencies. Your ability to analyse information, coordinate competing priorities and contribute to project outcomes will enable you to thrive in this role.

Experience working with grant-funded projects, project reporting systems or government infrastructure programs will be highly regarded.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • PRINCE2 or other recognised Project Management certification.
  • Experience coordinating grant applications, funding reports and acquittals.
  • Traffic Control qualifications (TCR, IMP and PWZ) or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid qualification.
