About the team:
Located in the Planning, Regulation and Services Gold Coast Department, the Strategic, Urban and Regional Planning unit is responsible for developing and reviewing land use and urban design planning policy important to managing the growth of the Gold Coast, providing regional planning advice, and planning assumptions (including population and dwellings numbers)
About the role:
The Strategic Urban and Regional Planning business unit leads the long-term planning for how the Gold Coast grows shaping a vibrant, sustainable, and liveable city. By guiding where and how development happens, we balance environmental, social, and economic priorities so neighbourhoods reflect community values, meet future needs, and thrive for generations.
The position will therefore get involved with and work collaboratively on projects that provide strategic direction, evidence and policy foundations to guide infill residential and employment growth. This role gives you an opportunity to work in a supportive team environment on a broad range of projects which will ensure your days are varied and interesting.
The key Project Officer responsibilities are to assist coordinate, monitor and ensure successful delivery of projects across timelines, resources, and stakeholders in support of local planning project processes.
You will carry out a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assist the project leads in developing and implementing strategic communication plans that align with project goals and objectives.
- Provide a high level of administrative support to the team by problem solving, applying innovative solutions to tasks, organising meetings and assisting with procurement.
- Administer and support project management and program delivery activities across assigned projects or work programs.
- Assist the Coordinator and project leads with work program scheduling, milestones and deliverables.
- Provide a high level of customer service and ensure prompt responses to written and verbal requests.
- Engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Clear and effective interaction with team members and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
- Provide quality assurance and document control to ensure project outputs meet required standards and objectives.
- Create a positive workplace culture by encouraging constructive collaboration to achieve positive City outcomes.
We’re looking for people who:
- Have a minimum of a Diploma in Project and Program Management (or equivalent knowledge).
- Hold a high level of interpersonal, oral and written skills including demonstrated experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Have experience supporting project and program management processes, including stakeholder engagement, research, analysis, budget/ contract management and/ or seeking appropriate stakeholder advice.
- Demonstrate a high attention to detail, ability to analyse issues and problem solve to support project and program management requirements.
- Are proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Project.
- Have an inquisitive mind and are passionate about working in multi-skilled team of professionals.
