Social Media Officer
Temporary full-time position up to March 2027
Up to 35 hours a week + Variable Day Off every 19-days
Salary: $54.41 - $63.23 per hour + 12% Superannuation
Please note: Although this position is advertised as temporary full-time, we are open to considering a job-share arrangement and may appoint two candidates who can jointly meet the requirements of the role. We are looking for a creative and forward thinking Social Media and Content Creator who is passionate about producing high-quality content for a range of audiences online.
What you'll do
As our Social Media Officer, you'll be responsible for creating and delivering engaging digital content including photography, video, and written material, for Council’s social media channels to drive awareness, engagement, and positive sentiment around Council programs, events, services, and initiatives. This role involves managing, monitoring, and reporting on Council’s social media presence and proactive content to help shape community and visitor perception.

What you'll need (Essential Criteria)
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, public and or media relations or equivalent experience in social media and digital communications
- Demonstrated experience in social media content creation and cultivation of channels, with a focus on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, but also on the use of short video format
- Demonstrated ability to curate a channel or account to grow reach and engagement
- Experience in the use of tools to schedule, archive and monitor social media content
- Proven ability to develop rapport and engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to foster and sustain partnerships
- Experience in Content Management System (CMS) publishing and video editing, high-level computer skills and experience with Adobe creative suite and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated use of initiative, innovation, decision making and time management skills to best utilise resources, create efficiencies and prioritise demands.
- Demonstrated ability to pursue own continuous learning and maintain current knowledge of social media trends and issues, and to quickly acquire new technical skills
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
