About the position

Corangamite Shire Council is seeking a Finance Officer to play a key role in supporting Council’s financial operations, with a focus on financial accounting and Accounts Payable functions.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the financial accounting aspects of Council operations using a team approach, ensuring all financial records are accurate and capable of producing timely statutory reporting.
  • Undertaking Accounts Payable functions for Council, ensuring supplier invoices, reconciliations, creditor payments and related records are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with Council policies, delegations and statutory requirements.
  • Supporting the preparation of Financial Statements, Grants Commission Return, Audit opinions and other financial reports.
  • Supporting the preparation of timely, relevant and accurate financial reporting on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Assisting the Manager Finance to effectively and efficiently carry out the financial functions of the Council, including core financial accounting and Accounts Payable activities.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, maintenance of supplier records and the application of internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across financial accounting and Accounts Payable functions while maintaining accuracy and meeting statutory and organisational deadlines
  • Demonstrated involvement in the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and the year-end Financial Reporting process.
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills.
  • Recent National Police Check or willingness to obtain.
