  • Unique and rewarding cultural environment
  • Strong financial foundations in place

Bawinanga is a successful progressive Aboriginal Corporation based in Maningrida in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. The community is located in one of Australia’s most unique natural environments, featuring pristine beaches and dramatic escarpments.

Our organisation represents and serves the Aboriginal people of Maningrida and 32 outstations within the Djelk Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) in West Arnhem Land. The Corporation grew out of the decision by land-owning Aboriginal people to exercise their rights to live on ancestral country in the regions surrounding Manayingkarirra/Manawukan/Maningrida.

We are governed by a primarily Indigenous Board and operate a range of businesses, social enterprises, programs, and services designed to deliver ‘on country’ employment and economic development opportunities to our local community members.

Working in close partnership with the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for providing strong and transparent leadership across 11 individual businesses and a full range of corporate services - Finance, HR, Health & Safety, Asset Management and Information, and Communications and Technology. The emphasis will be on ensuring full stakeholder collaboration, commercially astute financial management, culturally aware decision making and long-term sustainable business growth and development.

You will be a well-experienced Government or NFP executive looking to bring your insight and expertise to a complex community-focused environment. You will need an in-depth understanding of the way government works and the vital role played by Board governance in a remote Indigenous community. From a personal perspective, your strong focus, uncompromised integrity, cultural understanding and sensitivity, and willingness to immerse yourself in community issues and objectives will be critical.
