The District Council of Ceduna is located on the far West Coast of the beautiful Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The district boasts coastal playgrounds, jaw dropping landscapes and stunning beaches. It's home to a diverse range of multi-cultural community groups offering mining, farming, fishing, aquaculture, social services, health, education and tourism. With the township of Ceduna being the central hub, the region welcomes over 240,000 tourists annually and is famous for its King George Whiting, Oysters and Oysterfest festival.

A rare opportunity has presented itself to appoint an experienced Senior Executive to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Mayor, Elected Members and Council Staff, the CEO's key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of the Strategic Plan
  • Oversee the asset and infrastructure management plan
  • Comply with the Local Government Act, regulations and other legislated requirements of council
  • General oversight of the operations of council
  • Community and stakeholder engagement
  • Provide trusted advice to the Mayor and Elected Members
  • Monitor opportunities for grant funding
  • Encourage and promote local tourism and economic development
  • Promote the community with respect to media, marketing and communications

It is essential that you have senior management experience and an understanding of the Local Government sector and legislated requirements. Being an excellent communicator and people person, you would be expected to be visible, approachable, accessible and willing to engage with your community. Your prior experience in working in collaboration with indigenous communities, elected members and government departments will be well received.
