Chief Executive Officer – Redland City Council

Redland City Council is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation through an exciting period of growth and transformation.
As CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Redland City, ensuring the Council meets its vision of a "Naturally Wonderful Lifestyle. Connected Communities. Embracing Opportunities" while serving over 160,000 residents.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
The CEO will provide strong, transparent leadership across the organisation, ensuring high levels of integrity, accountability and performance. You will drive continuous improvement and innovation while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the Executive Leadership Team and across all departments.
Organisational Resource Management
The CEO has responsibility for the financial sustainability of the Council, overseeing a $245 million operational budget and $110 million in capital expenditure. Ensuring effective resource allocation and long-term financial planning will be critical to meet the region's infrastructure and service delivery needs.
Stakeholders
A key part of the role is strengthening relationships with state and federal government leaders, securing support and resources for major projects and ensuring that Redland City continues to grow in a sustainable way.
The Council are committed to embedding community engagement into the business of the organisation, ensuring the community’s voice is heard in the decisions, actions and outcomes of the Council.
Projects
The CEO will oversee the planning, execution and delivery of key projects, including the Cleveland and Capalaba Town Centre redevelopments and 2032 Olympics-related infrastructure projects, ensuring these initiatives align with the Council’s strategic goals and contribute to the region’s long-term growth.
Key Attributes
We are seeking an enthusiastic and results-driven leader with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
The Council’s ideal candidate will have very strong experience the public and private sectors, with a strong track record in managing large, diverse workforces and delivering critical projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in public sector, business, economics or management.
- 5-10 years of senior executive experience, with a track record in strategic and operational leadership.
- Proven experience leading organisational change and driving transformation.
