Situated in the Murraylands and Riverland Region of South Australia and covering an area of 5,696 square kilometres, the Southern Mallee District Council is known for its high value conservation reserves and iconic Mallee landscapes. This unique opportunity seeks a solutions-driven leader with an inquisitive mindset to lead change. The ideal candidate will excel in change management and collaborate effectively with a proactive and engaged Elected Body, bringing staff and the community along on this journey. Strong experience in finance, asset and infrastructure management, along with a commitment to a high level of customer experience and community engagement, is highly valued.
With an annual budget of $10.3M, and offices located in Lameroo and Pinnaroo, the key responsibilities of the CEO include:
- Lead and manage the team in the delivery of Council services
- Comply with the governance and legislated requirements of council

We are seeking a visionary, community-focused and 'hands on' leader with a strong strategic and commercial acumen. As an outcome-oriented decision maker and problem solver, you will demonstrate accountability while empowering the team with trust and support. You will not be afraid to ask questions and build a continuous improvement culture. Strong emotional intelligence and a positive, 'can do' attitude are key attributes required to succeed in this role. While knowledge of Local Government is advantageous, your experience in navigating complex, regulated environments will be highly valued. With a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple townships, exceptional communication skills are crucial in building trust, respect, and engagement within the community
