About the Council
The Alexandrina region is uniquely positioned in the picturesque Southern Fleurieu Peninsula at the end of the River Murray and is a gateway to the iconic Coorong. It is within an easy drive from metropolitan Adelaide. The Alexandrina vision is about ‘connecting communities’ through regional innovation, a thriving environment, quality of life and wellbeing for all, increasing cultural vitality and activating vibrant spaces.
About the Role
As the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in steering Alexandrina Council towards a prosperous and sustainable future. You will be responsible for the leadership and management of all of Council’s employees and operations and will work closely with the Council on policy development and strategic planning, delivery of effective best-value service programs and a focus on economic and community regeneration.
The Council are seeking to appoint an experienced senior executive who can lead, motivate, mentor, develop, and inspire employees through fostering a culture of innovation and empowerment. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who can manage expectations, and guide Alexandrina Council collaboratively with the Mayor and Council Members by fostering effective communication and relationships between Councillors and the administration.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience, empathy, and a forward-thinking approach. As a CEO, you should demonstrate a successful track record in fostering adaptability, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. Your collaborative nature, emotional intelligence, and commitment to excellence will be essential. Encourage transparent decision-making and prioritize outstanding customer service. Consider the broader impact of actions and outputs within the organisation and the community.
Your background could include significant experience in change management, organisational cultural development and strategic planning. Demonstrating strong business acumen and building strong, respectful relationships with the community and key stakeholders is crucial. Collaborating effectively with Elected Members ensures community expectations are met. Lastly, embrace self-awareness and feedback as vital tools for continuous improvement.
In return for your commitment, Council is offering the successful candidate an attractive salary package and a 5-year contract.
