Job Description
The CEO leads Shire operations with a strategic vision, overseeing both community development and economic growth while ensuring the sustainable and innovative use of resources. Driving initiatives to maximize the Shire's potential and benefit its community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Shire with a strategic vision, developing policies and strategies that resonate with Shire values.
• Further develop a high-performing executive and management team committed to community involvement and excellence.
• Cultivate partnerships with various stakeholders, from Council, community, and business, to tackle regional challenges and opportunities collaboratively.
• Advance projects that will stimulate economic development, revenue diversification and promote long-term sustainability throughout the region.
• Oversee the management of resources, including budgeting, financial planning, and human capital, to ensure effective and efficient operations.
• Drive initiatives fostering social equality, environmental stewardship, and economic prosperity.
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in the role the Shire of Carnarvon is looking for:
• Previous executive level experience in Local, State or Federal Government, private sector or a not-for-profit organisation.
• Proven high-level leadership, empowering teams to exceed goals and adept team management skills, including capability assessment, mentorship, and fostering collaborative growth.
• Contemporary skills and experience in the management of physical and financial resources, budgets and other assets.
• Proven ability in efficient project management, as well as a solid background in governance practices and risk management strategies
• Experience in constructively and proactively engaging with diverse communities and driving outcomes that positive impact community.

The CEO role is offered on an initial 3-5 year term with a Total Reward Package consistent with SAT Band 2: $228,973 - $356,181.
