- Lead and drive one of Australia’s most dynamic cities
- Design and deliver the long-term strategic vision
- Exceptional North Queensland lifestyle
As the economic and industrial hub of North Queensland, Townsville is home to 200,000 residents and covers nearly 4,000 sqkms. With a strong commercial platform built on mining, education, construction and defence, the region is also rapidly building a bright, future-focused economy based on renewable energy and emerging technologies.
The Townsville region combines the resources and community infrastructure to rival any major capital city with a natural environment that includes the Great Barrier Reef, stunning tropical rainforests and pristine island settings. It all adds up to the ideal work/lifestyle balance.
As CEO, you will be at the helm of a city destined to rapidly grow in both long-term economic and innovative significance, and your role will be to provide the top-line direction and inspiration to ensure Council delivers on all aspects of its strategic intent and community focused vision. Working closely with the Mayor and Councillors, you will have an uncompromised focus on the needs and aspirations of Townsville's residents and business communities while also building the broader framework required to ensure a long-term sustainable future for the city and its region.
You will have the unique blend of long-term strategic vision, high level economic know-how and the natural ability to inspire and lead by example. An experienced CEO, you will have an exceptional track-record of achievement within large, complex public sector environments with the emphasis on implementing major change programs, long-term economic growth strategies, astute financial management and community collaboration. Ideally, you will also have a thorough understanding of digital transformation strategies focused on delivering positive end-to-end customer experience.
This is one of Queensland's most exciting, challenging and rewarding senior executive opportunities. You will be the driving force and inspiration behind the City's long-term vision and future well-being of its residents and business communities, while also enjoying an exceptional lifestyle only North Queensland can offer.
