About Glenelg Shire
Located 360kms from Melbourne, the Glenelg Shire Council is situated in Victoria’s south-west corner. Our main townships include Portland, Cape Bridgewater, Casterton, Heywood and Dartmoor. The Shire’s uniquely diverse economy is based around service industries, timber production, grazing and manufacturing. We are renowned for our landscapes which include the Budj Bim UNESCO World Heritage Landscape, expansive beaches, scenic and rugged coast with large national events such as the Australian Kelpie Muster, Upwelling Festival, Hooked on Portland, and Heywood Wood, Wine and Roses Festival.

Our Next CEO
A visionary CEO is sought to deliver best practise governance, set the strategic direction for the Council, promoting fiscal sustainability, innovation, and productivity improvements. Key to this role will be an appreciation of Glenelg’s unique and natural environment and geographically diverse community. In relation to economic growth an understanding of the importance of diversity and sustainability with a clear focus on emerging sectors such as renewables.
You will be an experienced Local Government or Public Sector executive with an understanding of rural communities and what it takes to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders including small business, local multi-national organisations, and all levels of government. You will be an entrepreneurial individual and progressive thinker who will both initiate business enhancement opportunities and embrace change. Your history of respecting and working in partnership with community will be critical to your success in this position.
You will bring a well-developed skillset that positions you to lead and support staff in a measured and considered way that encourages individuals and allows them to shine.
As CEO, you will lead strategy development and drive performance whilst ensuring accountability to the community and key stakeholders. Framing the future and delivering innovative solutions and productivity gains whilst streamlining processes requires strong analytical and communication skills.
