The District Council of Peterborough is situated in the mid north of South Australia under three hours by road from Adelaide. Council has a population of 1,500 and supports the surrounding farming area. We have a strong focus on developing the tourism potential – in particular, our Rail Heritage.

A rare opportunity has presented itself to appoint an experienced Senior Executive to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Mayor, Elected Members and Council Staff, the CEO’s key responsibilities include:

• Providing advice and direction to Senior Leadership Team including the delivery of the Strategic Plan
• Overseeing operations of the Council including statutory and administrative functions
• Provide sound financial advice and management relating to performance and asset management
• Leading and developing an inclusive high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and service delivery
• Overseeing major projects and capital works programs
• Promoting Council at every opportunity though community and stakeholder engagement
• Supporting Economic Development and Tourism including Grant Funding initiatives
• Manage all Media, Marketing and Communications

We are seeking an experienced Senior Executive with Local Government experience and strong financial management skills. Being an excellent communicator and people person, you will be expected to be visible, approachable, and accessible across all the communities throughout the region.

Your sound project management experience will be beneficial, as will your relationships within Local, State and Federal Government, as well as private enterprise.
