A great opportunity now exists to lead and manage a vibrant, positive, and forward-thinking organisation as the Chief Executive Officer of Greater Shepparton City Council.

Greater Shepparton, located on Yorta Yorta land, is a contemporary region with strong multicultural diversity and a proud First Nations population. It is an area rich in agriculture, horticulture and dairying and produces around 25% of Victoria's food and fibre output. Shepparton is the 5th largest regional centre in Victoria and is home to some of Australia's major iconic food companies. It has a fast-growing liveable City Centre that is a hub of activity together with many welcoming smaller towns. This liveable region plays host to a great network of parks, rivers, and forests, offering good bushwalking and cycling tracks as well as boasting a wide array of restaurants, cafes, bars and retail outlets. Known universally for its sporting opportunities and facilities, its festivals and recreational pursuits, it has everything you need on your doorstep.

Greater Shepparton is looking for a CEO who is motivated by making a difference in the community, has strong leadership and management experience, coupled with a commitment to good governance. Our CEO will be passionate about the role of Local Government and committed to supporting the role of Councillors as the elected representatives.

If you have a proven track record of successful leadership, building strong community partnerships and an appetite for the task of shaping the future of Greater Shepparton City Council then we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic advice to the Mayor, Councillors, and wider organisation
  • Implementing and embedding Council's vision and decisions
  • Building an effective, high-performing organisation committed to the vision, values, and strategic priorities
  • Creating an enhanced focus on community health and wellbeing to improve health outcomes and address social disadvantage
  • Promote diversity, inclusion and climate change both internally and externally
  • Building strong collaborations with the Business community to enhance economic development
  • Deliver high-quality service excellence across Council's wide array of contemporary services
  • Promote and enhance civic engagement with the community

To be successful in this role you will have the energy and ability to adapt to a changing environment. You will possess a strong breadth of management skills as well as the capacity for high level strategic thinking, advocacy and outstanding interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate your commitment to ensuring quality services are provided at all times and your passion for stakeholder and community engagement will be vital to your success. You will be a strong collaborative leader, bringing the organisation with you on the journey.

In return you will be rewarded with a competitive package and the chance to make a real difference in this leading Regional Victoria community.
