Edward River Council seeks a forward thinking accomplished local government leader who will work alongside Council’s Elected Members in promoting the region in achieving the community’s and Council’s goals and objectives.

About your new role
As the Chief Executive Officer of Edward River Council, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of all Council operations. Reporting directly to the Council, you will ensure that the strategic goals and objectives of Council are met, be the public face and ready to proactively represent Council within our work sites, community, media and broader regional and state levels.
With a new governing body recently elected in September 2024 delivering a blend of fresh perspectives and previous experience. The council is committed to harmonising diverse viewpoints within the Council and moving forward a progressive agenda.
About You
You are an authentic and strategic leader who is ready to drive innovation and delivery on our Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and the Edward River Growth Strategy 2050.

Do you have these key attributes?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant relevant work experience at senior or executive management level.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership and executive experience, preferably in local government or the public sector; with a record of accomplishment and proven advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated executive management experience in corporate performance management, including human, financial and asset management.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sustainable economic and community development initiatives in a rural and regional context.
- Demonstrated strong collaborative and community engagement approach to leadership in business with a high level of interpersonal skills, including communicating with influence, advocacy, and negotiation.
- Proven ability to work constructively with a council or board to achieve outcomes.
