This is a unique opportunity to join Gladstone Regional Council as Manager Brand and Communications, helping shape the region's story while enjoying the flexibility of a permanent part-time, job-share position.

Working 44 hours per fortnight, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to Council and the community, while achieving a healthy balance between work and life.

About the Role

This is a key management role responsible for the strategic development, protection and performance of Council’s brand and reputation. The role leads high-quality, consistent and user-centred community engagement and communications across media, digital, internal and community engagement channels to ensure residents, stakeholders and staff are informed, engaged and confident in Council’s work.

Through effective storytelling, inclusive engagement and strong brand governance, the role supports Council’s commitment to creating a vibrant, connected and inclusive community by sharing information and resources, promoting access and participation, and complementing the delivery of broader Council services and initiatives.

You will bring:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications (or related discipline) and/or demonstrated senior leadership experience in communications, brand, media and engagement within a complex or public-facing organisation, with accountability for organisational reputation and public narrative.
  2. Strong understanding of the local government or public-sector environment, and ability to provide trusted strategic advice to executive leaders, on governance, transparency and political sensitivity.
  3. Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing teams and coaching for capability building and positive culture.
  4. Proven experience delivering community and stakeholder engagement, using recognised frameworks and ensuring transparent reporting of outcomes.
  5. Demonstrated experience in managing digital platforms, social media, websites, video production, and creative development experience.
  6. Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors, community user groups and internal Council stakeholders.
  7. Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
