The Destination Marketing Partner is a strategic role responsible for leading the delivery of the Destination Marketing Plan. This role plays a key part in strengthening and future-proofing the Mudgee Region visitor economy by creating opportunities for visitors to engage with the region while driving awareness, desirability and consideration.

This position provides leadership and expert delivery across strategic destination marketing, brand and tactical marketing activity. The role is responsible forpositioning the Mudgee Region as a desirable destination through integrated owned, earned and paid marketing activity.

Mudgee Region Tourism, a brand of Mid-Western Regional Council is responsible for the protection, progression and promotion of the destination experiences that make the region a desirable place to live, work and visit. Mid-Western Regional Council is committed to growing the region in a sustainably, ensuring the experiences, investment and infrastructure that contribute to the visitor economy also benefit the community we serve.


You will:

  • Lead the delivery of the Destination Marketing Plan and contribute to strategic destination planning.
  • Develop and oversee integrated marketing campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels.
  • Manage agencies, contractors, creative partners and media relationships to deliver marketing activity.
  • Build and manage brand partnerships that strengthen the Mudgee Region’s position.
  • Oversee Mudgee Region Tourism’s websites, social media, magazine, content and public relations activity.
  • Manage campaign budgets and optimise marketing investment across TV, radio, digital, social and print.
  • Monitor visitor trends, consumer behaviour, data and performance to inform future marketing.
  • Lead destination activations, events and media/familiarisation activity, including collaboration with regional, state and national tourism organisations.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, tourism, marketing, communications or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience working in or with local/state government, specifically local/regional tourism organisations or destination marketing organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic marketing plans and budgets.
  • Experience overseeing marketing deliverables for cooperative and partner activity.
  • Experience managing multiple agencies, contractors and creative freelancers across owned, earned and paid marketing activity.
  • A strong understanding and connection to the local tourism environment and broader tourism sector.
  • The ability to anticipate emerging industry trends, identify opportunities and implement innovative approaches.
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence and the ability to travel within and outside the region.

This role requires a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check prior to commencing.

The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3,561.40 - $4,008.40 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $92,596.40 - $104,218.40 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).

Working Arrangements

This position is primarily performed in an office environment, with travel to various locations within and outside the region. This position generally works standard business hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. From time to time, you’ll be required to work outside these hours, including early mornings, evenings and nights, to support industry events, stakeholder engagement activities and Council initiatives.

Occasional weekend work and travel may also be required within the region, as well as to key visitor markets including Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast.

Interstate travel may also be required for industry conferences, learning and development opportunities and tourism summits.
