The Role

Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure and Operations, you will lead the management and development of Council’s GIS and spatial data systems to support infrastructure, asset management and operational decision-making

• Lead the administration and continuous improvement of Council’s GIS platforms.
• Maintain accurate asset, property and infrastructure spatial data.
• Produce mapping, spatial analysis and reporting to support Council operations.
• Coordinate spatial data collection and asset capture activities.
• Support integration between GIS, asset management and corporate systems.
• Provide specialist GIS advice and technical support across Council.
• Drive innovation through web mapping, dashboards and spatial technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Council’s GIS platforms, systems and spatial data.
• Maintain accurate asset, property and infrastructure data across Council systems.
• Administer GIS applications, licences, integrations and user access.
• Deliver mapping, spatial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
• Coordinate spatial data capture using GIS, GPS and field technologies.
• Provide specialist GIS and asset management advice across Council.
• Develop and maintain GIS standards, procedures and metadata.
• Train and support staff in the effective use of GIS tools and systems.
• Identify and implement improvements through web mapping, dashboards and spatial technologies.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science, Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum three years’ experience administering and developing GIS systems.
• Strong knowledge of spatial data management, GIS principles and metadata standards.
• Experience working with asset management and infrastructure data.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, training and support.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with GPS, web mapping, dashboards or field data capture tools is desirable.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
• White Card (or willingness to obtain).
