Manager Community and Cultural Spaces

  • Influence how community places are planned, managed and experienced across the region.
  • Shape a newly created portfolio delivering valued Community and Cultural Spaces.
  • Join Sunshine Coast Council during a significant period of organisational transformation.

Sunshine Coast Council is combining a number of community facing services into a newly created Community and Cultural Spaces portfolio. Reporting to the Director Community Strengthening, this is a unique opportunity to establish an integrated branch that will shape how community facilities are managed, accessed and experienced across the region.

The portfolio includes libraries, galleries, museums, community venues, heritage services and cemeteries. It has been created to strengthen collaboration, improve service delivery and ensure Council's places continue to evolve alongside the needs of a growing community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Bringing together previously separate services into a single, high performing branch with a clear operating model.
  • Identifying new ways to improve the utilisation, accessibility and long term sustainability of Council's community places.
  • Leading one of Council's largest community service workforces through a period of organisational change and cultural development.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure community places continue to meet changing community needs.

This role will suit an experienced local government leader who enjoys bringing people together, building leadership capability and translating strategy into practical outcomes. You will be comfortable leading through change, making sound decisions and creating an environment where teams are empowered to deliver exceptional community outcomes.

The position offers the opportunity to influence one of Council's largest community service portfolios while helping shape the future use of community places across one of Australia's fastest growing regions.
