Manager Community Activation

  • Newly created leadership opportunity driving a new vision for community activation across the Sunshine Coast.
  • Lead sport and recreation partnerships, community events, major venues and activation
  • Enjoy the lifestyle benefits of living and working on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking an experienced leader to establish and lead its newly created Community Activation Branch.

Reporting to the Director Community Strengthening, this is a unique opportunity to shape a new direction for community activation across one of Queensland's largest councils. As part of a significant organisational transformation, you will play a pivotal role in shifting the way Council works with sporting clubs, community organisations, event organisers and partners, creating stronger relationships that increase participation and deliver lasting community outcomes.

Leading a diverse portfolio encompassing sport and recreation partnerships, community events, aquatic facilities, major venues, showgrounds and community activation programs, you will help establish a contemporary operating model that moves beyond transactional service delivery towards genuine partnership with the community.

This is an opportunity to lead meaningful change by:

  • Building a branch that enables communities, clubs and partners to lead activation rather than relying on Council to deliver every activity.
  • Strengthening relationships with sporting clubs, community organisations, government agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Creating contemporary frameworks that simplify how the community engages with Council.
  • Leading a capable multidisciplinary team through organisational change while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Translating strategic direction into practical initiatives that increase participation, strengthen community connection and maximise the use of community facilities and places.

You will be recognised as a collaborative leader who builds trusted relationships, develops capable teams and delivers practical outcomes. Experience within local government will be highly regarded, although applications are also welcomed from leaders with transferable experience across sport and recreation, community development, events or comparable community focused organisations.
