About the role…
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director Assets and Infrastructure Services is a key member of the Corporate Management Team and provides strategic leadership across Council's asset management, infrastructure, works and operational services functions. The role is responsible for ensuring the sustainable planning, development, maintenance and renewal of Council's extensive infrastructure assets while delivering efficient, safe and customer-focused services to the community.
Leading a diverse portfolio that includes asset management, works, operations, infrastructure, plant and fleet management, you will play a critical role in shaping Council's long-term infrastructure strategy, organisational performance and financial sustainability. The position also provides high-level strategic advice to the CEO, Mayor and Elected Members while fostering a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
What you will do…
- Executive Leadership - Contribute as a member of the Corporate Management Team and provide strategic advice to the CEO, Mayor and Elected Members.
- Asset Management Strategy - Lead the development and implementation of asset management plans, lifecycle strategies and long-term renewal programs.
- Financial Stewardship - Lead significant operational and capital budgets, resource planning and external funding opportunities.
- Governance and Risk Management - Ensure legislative compliance, robust procurement practices and effective risk management across the directorate.
- Strategic Project Delivery - Oversee major infrastructure investments and capital programs that support community outcomes and long-term sustainability.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Build productive relationships with Elected Members, government agencies, industry partners, neighbouring councils and the community.
What they are looking for…
- Proven executive leadership experience in infrastructure, engineering, asset management, public works or related environments.
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams across asset, infrastructure and operational service functions.
- Strong strategic planning capability, with experience developing and implementing asset management, financial and operational plans.
- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure management, capital works delivery, asset lifecycle planning and service sustainability.
- Strong financial management skills, including responsibility for significant operational and capital budgets.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience advising senior executives, boards or elected representatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading organisational change, continuous improvement initiatives and service transformation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, infrastructure management, construction management, asset management or a related discipline.
- A collaborative and values-based leadership style, with a strong commitment to safety, accountability and customer service.
