Shape the roads Launceston moves on

You'll lead the way we plan, maintain and renew Launceston's road network. As Senior Road Asset Engineer, you'll bring technical depth to road condition assessment, renewal prioritisation and the capital projects that keep our roads performing for the long term.

Working within the City Infrastructure team, you'll lead the preparation of Road Asset Management Plans, build forward renewal and maintenance programs backed by solid condition data, and provide the technical mentorship. You'll also be a trusted technical voice for contractors, service providers and the community when it comes to what's happening on our roads.

This is a senior technical role with real scope to shape decisions that affect how the whole city moves.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Lead the planning and assessment of road asset condition, identifying renewal and maintenance priorities
• Prepare and maintain the Road Asset Management Plans, including four year renewal programs based on condition data
• Provide technical mentorship within the engineering team and broader organisation on complex road asset issues
• Manage the financial planning and delivery of road and bridge maintenance programs, including tender documentation and project specifications
• Liaise with contractors, service providers and the community on road asset works and enquiries

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• A civil engineering degree or equivalent, with strong experience across road asset management or related civil construction modalities
• A track record managing public infrastructure assets, from condition assessment through to renewal planning
• A current driver's licence
• A collaborative approach, working well within the City Infrastructure team and across the organisation
