Strategic Leadership of Major Projects and Capital Works
Deliver Safe, Sustainable Infrastructure Outcomes
Build Project Capability across Council
The City of Onkaparinga is South Australia's largest metropolitan council, serving a rapidly growing community and delivering infrastructure and services that support the region's continued development. An outstanding leadership opportunity now exists for an experienced and commercially astute Manager Construction and Projects to lead the delivery of Council's significant capital works and organisational project portfolio.
Reporting to the Director Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across construction delivery, project management and program coordination. Leading multidisciplinary teams, you will oversee the planning, design, procurement and delivery of major infrastructure and organisational projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
A key focus of the role will be strengthening project management capability across the organisation through effective governance frameworks, methodologies, reporting and continuous improvement practices. You will also provide trusted strategic advice to senior leaders and stakeholders regarding project delivery, investment decisions and organisational priorities.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience leading complex infrastructure, construction and organisational projects, supported by strong commercial acumen and highly developed stakeholder engagement skills. You will be recognised for your ability to lead high-performing teams, drive innovation, build collaborative partnerships and deliver outstanding outcomes in complex environments. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline are essential, with Project Management experience within local government highly regarded.
This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of South Australia's most significant local government organisations, shaping infrastructure outcomes that benefit communities now and into the future.
