Play an important role in the delivery of high-profile asset and infrastructure projects for the Northern Inland Branch of National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
About the role
No two days are the same and no two projects are the same. As a Project Officer within the Asset & Infrastructure team, you’ll be working closely with the Senior Project Officer to deliver multiple projects simultaneously, including new installations, upgrades and renewals of capital infrastructure across National Parks and Wildlife visitor and operational assets.
The role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your expertise providing diverse project management, contractor management, procurement and related support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure compliance with relevant standards, heritage guidelines and stakeholder requirements.
You’ll be relied upon to coordinate all stages of project delivery, from concept development and scope definition through to site inspections and final documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project governance guidelines, heritage requirements, and stakeholder needs. The role involves reviewing technical reports, drawings and specifications, managing specialist consultants undertaking site investigations, and coordinating contractors, including delivering hazardous materials decontamination and remediation works.
As the team is geographically dispersed, the position will involve travel (fully supported) to remote locations and towns within the Northern Inland Branch, an incredibly diverse branch that encompasses approximately 23% of the state, stretching from the eastern escarpment of the Great Dividing Range to the remote channel country of the Bulloo Overflow in the west. Once you see a North-West sunset you never forget it!
About you
A passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail, self motivation and proficiency in project management will be key to your success in this role. To be successful in the role, you will have:
- experience in working with government agencies, project managers, engineering disciplines and varied construction contractors, experienced in providing advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy and environmental objectives and other project and priorities.
- a current driver’s licence and have demonstrated experienced in working and traveling in rural and remote communities.
- experience in procurement and contract management, including contractor supervision of remote works projects which will require regular travel throughout the region.
It would highly regarded if you are experienced delivering projects within a natural resource setting including a working knowledge of GIS systems, data management and analysis skills.
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration
