The City of Sydney’s Digital and Information Services team enables the organisation to deliver secure, resilient and effective services through technology. The Manager DIS Strategy & Architecture will lead the function responsible for setting the City’s digital strategy and providing architectural direction across enterprise applications, infrastructure, data, platforms and integration.
This senior leadership role will translate organisational priorities into clear technology strategies, roadmaps, target states and architecture standards. You will provide strategic advice and architectural assurance across digital initiatives, support informed investment decisions and ensure technology choices are sustainable, secure, scalable and aligned with the City’s long term direction.
A key focus of the role will be improving the coherence of digital investments, reducing complexity and technical debt, and establishing greater strategic clarity across Digital and Information Services. You will work closely with the Chief Information Officer, senior leaders, project teams, vendors and sector peers to shape technology direction and ensure initiatives align with enterprise strategy and architecture standards.
We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic technology leader who can combine deep architecture expertise with strategic planning, strong stakeholder influence and effective people leadership. You will lead and develop a specialist strategy and architecture team, building capability and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A minimum of five years’ experience in an Enterprise Architect role within a large or complex organisation.
A minimum of five years’ experience in infrastructure architecture design and enterprise application architecture.
Substantial experience leading enterprise architecture, technology strategy or digital strategy functions.
Demonstrated experience developing enterprise technology strategies, architecture roadmaps and target state architectures for complex organisations.
Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience designing physical (non-cloud) data centre infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, power and cooling for production and disaster recovery environments managed in-house.
Strong knowledge and practical experience designing enterprise network architecture and hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
Demonstrated experience using TOGAF or another recognised Enterprise Architecture framework.
Experience establishing and governing enterprise architecture standards across applications, infrastructure, data, integration and technology platforms.
Demonstrated capability providing architecture leadership and assurance across major programs, projects and operational initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience partnering with senior leaders to support strategic technology decisions.
Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to develop capability, set clear expectations and lead high-performing teams.
Strong strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to lead through complexity while ensuring technology solutions are secure, resilient and scalable.
This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
