Your Opportunity:
Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Casual Technical Officer – Data
Audit and Maintenance to join our Water and Waste team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building, improving and maintaining the asset management
systems that support critical water and wastewater infrastructure across the Whitsunday region.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, GIS, Asset Management and Corporate teams, you will
contribute to the development of a robust asset management framework that supports effective maintenance,
renewal planning and long-term infrastructure sustainability.
This role combines field-based asset inspections with technical data analysis and stakeholder engagement,
making it ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of office and outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect and validate asset data relating to water meters, backflow prevention devices, trade waste
devices and other water and wastewater assets.
• Conduct field inspections, condition assessments and defect reporting across the Whitsunday
Regional Council area.
• Analyse asset information and identify data gaps, anomalies and improvement opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Asset Technical Officers, Water Billing Officers and GIS specialists to ensure
asset data meets required standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of asset management data standards, workflows and
business processes.
• Support the development of maintenance and inspection programs within Council's asset
management systems.
• Assist with Council's meter reading program.
• Contribute to improving the accuracy and integration of asset registers, mapping systems and asset
valuation data.Essential
• Experience in asset management, infrastructure, engineering, GIS, utilities or a related technical field.
• Strong attention to detail and data analysis capabilities.
• Ability to interpret technical information and apply data standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience using asset management systems, GIS platforms or related software (desirable).
• A current C Class Driver Licence.
• Construction Safety Industry Card (White Card)
