Civic Maintenance Team Member
Your New Role:
Join our Open Space and Facilities Team based in Kempsey and help maintain the public amenities, streetscapes and public spaces that make our community a great place to live and visit.
Working as part of a supportive team, you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining Council's civic infrastructure and open spaces to a high standard. While your primary work location will be Kempsey, you may also be required to work with other Open Space and Facilities teams across the Kempsey Shire as operational needs require. Maintain Council's public amenities, parks, streets, gardens and public spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe and welcoming for the community.
In this role, you will:
- Maintain Council's public amenities, streets, gardens and public spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe and welcoming for the community.
- Carry out manual cleaning duties including sweeping gutters, footpaths and streets, collecting litter, emptying street bins and cleaning playgrounds, picnic areas and public amenities.
- Operate a range of plant and equipment safely and in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Complete minor repairs and maintenance to park infrastructure, street furniture, playground equipment and undertake painting as required.
- Inspect, service and perform basic maintenance on plant and equipment to ensure it remains safe and operational.
- Actively contribute to team meetings and toolbox talks.
- Rotate across teams and undertake higher duties when required.
- Perform other duties within your skills and competency as reasonably directed.

About You:
You're someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining public spaces and values being part of a collaborative team. You have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety and customer service, and enjoy contributing to the presentation and liveability of your local community.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Driver Licence (MR Licence highly regarded).
- Current Construction Induction (White Card).
- Recent experience in civic cleaning, grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor maintenance role.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate and maintain mowers, whipper snippers and other horticultural equipment.
- General maintenance and handyperson skills, including the use of hand and power tools.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and proven ability to work effectively within a team.
- A strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering quality outcomes for the community.
