Project manage Launceston's new CBD Bus Interchange

You'll take the lead on project managing Launceston's new CBD Bus Interchange, one of the city's most significant transport infrastructure projects. As Senior Major Project Advisor, Transport, you'll bring advanced civil engineering expertise and technical leadership to see it through, from investigation and design through to construction.

You'll lead technical reviews, guide contract administration and step in as contract superintendent when needed, backed by your civil engineering expertise across the wider transport portfolio. You'll mentor engineers and technical officers coming up through the team, sharing what you know and helping build capability across City Infrastructure. And you'll work alongside contractors, consultants, service authorities and the community to see the Bus Interchange and other projects through, reporting directly to the Senior Leader City Infrastructure.

This is a temporary, 2 year fixed term contract until September 2028, graded at Grade 8 under our Enterprise Agreement. It's a rare chance to lead a landmark project and put your stamp on the infrastructure Launnie relies on every day.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Project manage the delivery of the Launceston CBD Bus Interchange, from investigation and design through to construction

• Provide expert civil engineering advice across the investigation, design and construction of major infrastructure projects
• Lead complex technical reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards and best practice
• Lead high priority projects for the Community Assets and Design team, reporting regularly on progress
• Provide expert contract administration advice, including acting as contract superintendent when required
• Mentor and develop engineers and technical officers to build capability across the team

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
• Extensive, demonstrated experience delivering complex civil infrastructure or transport projects
• Skilled at managing complex projects through uncertain or politically sensitive environments, with a proven ability to mentor others
• A collaborative communicator who brings people along and keeps the community front of mind
