Solutions Analyst

Position Type: Fixed-Term Full-Time, August 2026 – July 2027 (9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)

Salary Range: LGO5-7 ($95,030 - $119,946 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About the Role:

As a Solutions Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering innovative digital solutions that improve services for the Townsville community. Working within Council’s Digital and Information Services team, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technology, partnering with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions that maximise value and enhance customer experiences.

This is a hands-on role where you will design, configure and implement applications, integrations, workflows and process automation solutions using modern technologies and tools. You'll work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to develop technical specifications, support system enhancements, and deliver projects that improve efficiency, streamline business processes and enable better outcomes across Council.

Depending on your experience and classification level, you may contribute to business analysis, systems integration, application development, mentoring team members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and providing expert advice on best-practice solution design and delivery.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, and/or significant industry experience.
  • ITIL Service Management qualifications and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Experience working in large and complex IT environments delivering business and technology solutions.
  • Strong technical capability across application development, integration, workflow automation, scripting and low-code platforms.
  • Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping and solution design.
  • Data analysis and database skills, including data mapping, modelling, ETL technologies and SQL.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Collaborative approach with experience working in multidisciplinary teams, ideally within agile environments.

Classification levels:

LGO 5

  • 3–5 years' relevant industry experience.
  • Sound technical, business analysis and data management skills.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of digital solutions and system enhancements.

LGO 6

  • Minimum 5+ years' relevant industry experience, including 3+ years in a similar role.
  • Strong experience leading or supporting the delivery of technology solutions.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement, facilitation and business improvement skills.

LGO 7

  • 7+ years' relevant industry experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience leading complex solution delivery initiatives in large IT environments.
  • Advanced technical, business analysis and stakeholder management capability, with the ability to mentor others and provide expert advice.

* The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
