Position Summary

Are you organised, customer-focused and looking for a flexible part-time role that makes a real difference in the community?

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Divisional Officer to support Cr Josh Martin. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will provide day-to-day administrative, operational and community-focused support that helps deliver local priorities and responsive service to residents.

This role works alongside dedicated communications, engagement and office management professionals, providing generalist support across a broad range of divisional activities and helping to ensure responsive, high-quality service to the community.

The position is offered on a part-time basis of up to 20 hours per week, ideally worked across four or five days. Flexible start and finish times are available to support candidates balancing family, study or other commitments, while meeting the needs of the role.

About Division 13

Division 13 is represented by Cr Josh Martin and includes Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, and parts of Elanora and Tallebudgera. Home to some of the Gold Coast's most well-known coastal communities, the division combines residential neighbourhoods, environmental assets, local businesses and community organisations, providing a varied and engaging local government environment.

About Cr Josh Martin

Cr Josh Martin was elected to the City of Gold Coast in 2024 and proudly represents the community of Division 13. A lifelong Gold Coast local raising his family in Palm Beach, Cr Martin is passionate about enhancing the liveability of the Southern Gold Coast and delivering practical outcomes for residents.

Prior to his election, he held leadership roles across the event management, tourism and arts sectors, bringing strong business acumen, community insight and a collaborative approach to local government. He currently serves as Deputy Chairperson of both the Governance, Administration and Finance Committee and the Transport and Infrastructure Committee and is Deputy Chairperson of the World Surfing Reserve Local Stewardship Advisory Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Divisional Office.
  • Assist in responding to community enquiries and concerns by coordinating information, follow-up actions and communication with relevant Council officers.
  • Support the coordination of meetings, events, briefings and local projects.
  • Maintain records, registers, tracking systems and office documentation.
  • Assist with diary management, inbox monitoring and workflow coordination.
  • Liaise professionally with residents, businesses, community groups and internal stakeholders.
  • Support procurement, finance and general office administration activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, customer-focused and high-performing team environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in an administrative, customer service or office support role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach to work.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Experience working within a Councillor's office, elected representative environment, or supporting senior leaders in a complex organisation is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration (desirable) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
