Director Corporate Sustainability
About this Position:
This executive leadership role provides the opportunity to shape Council’s long-term financial sustainability, governance, and corporate services outcomes. Reporting to the General Manager and working as a key member of the Executive Team, the Director Corporate Sustainability leads a diverse portfolio encompassing finance, procurement and information technology. The position plays a critical role in supporting informed decision-making, strengthening organisational performance, and ensuring Council delivers accountable, transparent, and sustainable services for the community.

- Provide strategic leadership across Council’s corporate services portfolio, driving financial resilience, organisational performance, and alignment with long-term community priorities.
- Partner with the General Manager, Executive Team and Councillors to shape and implement sustainable financial strategies that support informed decision-making and responsible stewardship of public resources.
- Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence, empowering leaders and teams to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Council has robust financial planning, governance and reporting frameworks that enable transparency, compliance and confident decision-making.
- Lead the delivery of contemporary corporate services, including technology, procurement and revenue functions, that support efficient and effective operations across the organisation.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, community stakeholders and external partners to advance Council’s strategic objectives.
- Foster a safe, ethical and values-driven workplace that promotes sound governance, integrity, risk management and positive organisational culture.
What you will need to be successful:
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications together with CA or CPA accreditation and a strong foundation in finance, governance and corporate services leadership.
- Significant executive-level experience leading diverse teams and delivering strategic outcomes within a complex public sector, local government or large corporation.
- Demonstrated expertise in long-term financial planning, organisational sustainability and the legislative frameworks that support effective local government operations.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted partnerships across a broad range of audiences.
- Proven ability to drive performance, lead change, apply sound judgement to complex challenges, and provide high-quality strategic advice, reporting and recommendations to support decision-making.
