Strategic Transport Advisor

Strategic Transport Advisor | Launceston

  • Shape the future of transport planning across one of Tasmania's largest regional cities.
  • Work on high profile city shaping projects with flexible compressed week options.
  • Salary from $121,208 to $132,444 plus 15.25% superannuation.

The City of Launceston is seeking a Strategic Transport Advisor to strengthen its transport planning capability and provide expert advice on the projects that will shape the city's future.

Reporting to the Team Leader Engineering, this specialist role sits within the City Infrastructure portfolio and works across transport planning, strategic policy, major infrastructure projects and long-term network planning. The position provides technical leadership across Council and works closely with engineers, project managers, consultants and government stakeholders.

Several significant initiatives are already underway, including the City Heart Place Plan, redevelopment of the CBD bus interchange and the future Two Way Streets project. The role will also lead the review of Council's Transport Strategy, ensuring it reflects contemporary transport planning principles and supports the city's continued growth.

Success in this role will suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, can balance technical expertise with practical decision making and is comfortable influencing outcomes through sound advice rather than formal authority.

The opportunity includes:

  • Delivering strategic transport planning that influences long term city outcomes.
  • Working across high profile projects that will leave a lasting impact on the community.
  • Collaborating within a supportive, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Access flexible working arrangements, including compressed working options, to support work-life balance.

The position offers a salary of $121,208 to $132,444 plus 15.25% superannuation, providing a total remuneration package of up to $152,642.
