The City of Boroondara is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data Analytics & Insights team on a full-time ongoing basis. Based at the Camberwell Office with flexible hybrid working arrangements, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality data analytics, dashboards, and insights that support evidence-based decision-making across Council.

Working closely with stakeholders, you'll undertake data discovery, analyse complex datasets, develop interactive dashboards and reports, and translate data into meaningful insights to drive business improvement and informed decision-making.

A little bit about the role

The Senior Data Analyst will be a key enabler in achieving the City of Boroondara's goal of enhancing its data and analytics capabilities across Council. Reporting to the Principal Data Analyst under the Data Analytics & Insights team, the role will: 

  • Support Council to serve the community through providing high quality data analysis and data modelling, designing and implementing dashboards, and surfacing key insights to underpin decisions.
  • Profile and analyse datasets with a range of tools including SSMS in a SQL Server environment.
  • Lead data discovery exercises to identify the root cause of business problems, demonstrate how data can inform solutions, and drive improved outcomes.
  • Assess data quality and work with data owners to identify and remediate issues.

A little bit about you

Your demonstrated ability to champion and advocate for data quality across a large organisation and help identify and remove blockers to great data quality will really set you apart for this role.

  You will have 

  • Expert-level SQL skills including writing and developing complex SQL scripts and stored procedures within a Microsoft environment (SSMS).
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and developing solutions in Power Bl (DAX) or similar data visualisation tool.

A knowledge and experience of complex data quality projects incorporating elements of data cleansing, validation, de-duplication, and analysis is desirable.
