Capability Support Officer

Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)

Salary Range: LGO3 ($78,412 - $84,646 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

Location: Townsville

About the Role:

As the Capability Support Officer, you will play a key role in helping Council build a skilled, capable and future-ready workforce. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will support the delivery of learning and development initiatives that strengthen employee capability across the organisation.

Partnering with employees, leaders, external training providers and the broader People and Culture team, you will coordinate a range of training and development activities across Council. This includes managing training schedules, participant communications, venues and resources, procurement processes, learning records and reporting, while promoting learning opportunities and delivering a high standard of customer service.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on delivering exceptional customer service, enjoys coordinating multiple priorities, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work that supports workforce capability and development across Council.

About you:

  • Certificate III in Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience providing administrative support, including preparing correspondence and business documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of administrative processes, procedures and record management practices.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn corporate systems, including learning management, financial and records management systems.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, with a strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

* The Council contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings subject to the employee contributing a minimum of 6% of their ordinary time earnings.
