About this opportunity

This position provides operational support to the Team Leader Development Compliance (Team Leader) and actively

mentors and provides technical advice and assistance to Development Compliance Officers.

The position incumbent will undertake difficult and complex investigations including High Risk Developments within the

Scenic Rim Regional Council area.

The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council’s offices (Boonah and

Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

Additionally, you’ll also …

• Mentor and guide Development Compliance Officers in the investigation and enforcement of non-compliance of

legislative responsibilities relating to building, land use, environment and local laws, in accordance with

legislative requirements and Council's corporate objectives.

• Support the Team Leader Compliance Services as required.

• Undertake complex non-compliance investigations and carry out necessary enforcement action.

• Prepare legal briefs and reports for Council and attend court and mediation proceedings when necessary.

About you…

• A tertiary qualification in local government land use, regulatory services, building, environment, or other relevant

field and/or extensive experience in a similar role.

• Ability to mentor, train and coach Development Compliance Officers to build confidence and legislative

knowledge.

• A detailed knowledge and understanding of Acts, Regulations and Local Laws applicable (Building Act 1975,

Planning Act 2016, Environmental Protection Act 1994, and relevant subordinate legislation, Local Laws and the

relevant subordinate legislation) to Council’s compliance and enforcement functions.

• Knowledge of legislative processes regarding infringements and prosecutions, with the ability to gather evidence

and participate in investigations.
