Build the Infrastructure Behind Launceston's Growth
As our Development Engineer, you'll be the technical eye across every development that lands on Council's desk. You'll assess how proposals affect our roads, stormwater and community assets, then work out what's needed to keep them fit for purpose. From reviewing development, building and plumbing applications to working alongside engineering consultants and contractors, you'll help make sure new subdivisions and infrastructure are built to last. It's technical work you can see the results of, in the streets and services the people of Launceston use every day.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Assess the impact of proposed developments on Council's roads, stormwater and other infrastructure
- Review development, building and plumbing applications and provide engineering advice within statutory timeframes
- Review engineering design plans and liaise with consultants on required changes
- Undertake compliance audits and inspections of development construction works
- Coordinate the finalisation of new subdivisions and strata developments
- Manage secondary applications, including driveway and stormwater approvals
- Build strong working relationships with developers, consultants and internal teams
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- A Bachelor of Engineering related to the tasks of the position
- Experience in infrastructure planning and development assessment, development compliance and/or civil design and construction
- Sound application of engineering and municipal legislation, standards and policies
- Experience supervising or managing contractors is desirable
- Strong self-awareness, with an ability to encourage open discussion and contributions from others
- Initiative, and a willingness to consider different ideas and perspectives
