Compensation: $121,208 to $132,444 Annually
plus 15.25% super

Shape How Projects Get Delivered Across Launceston

The City of Launceston is establishing a Project Management Office that will help transform how projects are delivered across the organisation. As a Project Manager, you'll have the opportunity to do more than deliver projects. You'll help shape project management practices, influence organisational change, and contribute to strategic initiatives that deliver real value for the Launceston community.

Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you'll lead complex projects from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation. Your portfolio could include externally facing projects of strategic importance or internal change initiatives that improve our services, systems and ways of working. This is an exciting opportunity for a project professional who enjoys both delivering outcomes and helping organisations grow and improve.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Leading the planning and delivery of allocated projects from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Developing and managing project plans, scope, schedules, budgets, risks and resources in line with organisational frameworks.
  • Preparing accurate and timely project reporting for leaders and governance groups.
  • Building productive relationships with stakeholders, and managing consultants, contractors and delivery partners.
  • Applying change management approaches to support adoption of project outcomes and sustainable benefits.
  • Contributing to project management frameworks, tools and capability uplift across Council.

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects from initiation to implementation.
  • Strong project management, governance, risk, and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and engage a wide range of stakeholders and build productive working relationships.
  • Experience applying change management approaches to support adoption and benefits realisation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in project management or a related field (or equivalent experience). Formal certifications such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or Prosci, and experience in local government or the public sector, are desirable.
