Where Your Numbers Shape Launceston’s Future
As our Management Accountant, you'll be at the heart of how the City of Launceston makes smart financial decisions. Sitting within the Finance and Technology team and reporting to the Team Leader Accounting, you'll prepare Council financial reports, guide Senior Leaders and Team Leaders through budgeting, and help lift financial literacy right across the organisation.

Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Prepare Council financial reports, including end of month and quarterly reporting, and provide clear analysis to support decision making.
- Support Senior Leaders and Team Leaders to formulate, monitor and manage annual budgets across the organisation.
- Maintain and reconcile financial ledgers and systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
- Identify financial training needs across allocated teams and help build financial literacy across the organisation.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements, and provide guidance on GST matters as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of accounting experience, ideally within a complex or multi entity environment.
- Eligibility for or progress towards membership of CPA Australia, or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, is desirable.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear, practical insights.
- A confident communicator who builds effective relationships and can explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
