The City of Launceston is seeking a Strategic Asset Planner to help strengthen and shape asset management practices across the organisation.
This role works closely with teams across Council to support integrated asset planning, evidence-based decision-making, long-term financial planning, service planning and capital works prioritisation. You will help develop and maintain Council's Strategic Asset Management Plan, asset class plans, planning frameworks, reporting tools and data insights.
This is an opportunity to apply your asset management expertise in a role that has genuine organisational influence. You will collaborate across service areas, finance, technology, corporate planning and operational teams to improve how Council plans, manages and invests in its assets for the long term.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, translate asset data into practical insights, support continuous improvement, and help embed consistent, sustainable asset management practices across Council.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Developing and maintaining Council's Strategic Asset Management Plan, asset class plans and asset management frameworks consistent with ISO 55000 principles
- Delivering asset modelling, forecasting and data insights that inform capital planning, renewal programs and long-term financial planning
- Developing dashboards, reports and performance metrics that support transparent, evidence-based decision-making
- Providing advice on the annual capital works program, ensuring prioritisation aligns with Council's strategic goals
- Building capability across Council through training, workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in engineering, asset management or asset planning (or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years' experience as an Asset Planner, Asset Manager or Strategic Asset Manager
- Strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights that inform decision-making
- A strong understanding of asset management practices, asset planning and service management, including legislative requirements and the relationship with long-term financial planning
- Clear communication and collaboration skills, including demonstrated experience preparing reports and presentations and facilitating workshops
- A continuous improvement mindset, with strong data analysis and reporting skills using systems such as TechnologyOne, NAMS+ or Power BI
