Join Mackay Regional Council as a Health and Regulatory Services Support Officer and play a key role in supporting vital community services through accurate data management, administrative excellence, and quality customer service.

About the role

In this role, you will provide essential administrative and customer service support to the Health & Regulatory Services team. You’ll contribute to maintaining system integrity, supporting compliance processes, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining Council databases and ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Managing billing, licensing processes, animal registrations, and certificates
  • Supporting compliance programs, debt management, and infringement processes
  • Providing timely, professional administrative support and customer service
  • Applying policies and legislation to billing and regulatory processes
  • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives and process updates
  • Working collaboratively within a multi-skilled team environment

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with databases and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, confidentiality, and initiative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organisational ability
  • Ability to handle complex or sensitive situations and resolve problems effectively
  • A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement

Desirable

  • Certificate III in Business or a related qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience within a Health & Regulatory Services or local government environment
