Drive procurement excellence for a city on the move
As Team Leader Procurement, you’ll lead a small team and take ownership of the Council’s procurement function, ensuring our processes are compliant, transparent and delivering genuine value for money for the community.
You’ll provide specialist advice and guidance across the organisation, lead complex procurement processes from end to end, and drive continuous improvement in how we plan, source and manage contracts. Reporting to the Senior Leader Finance & Technology, you’ll have the authority and scope to shape procurement practice at a council that’s genuinely invested in doing it well.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Lead and develop a procurement team, providing clear direction, regular feedback and a supportive, high-performing culture
- Provide specialist procurement advice and lead complex tender, RFQ and EOI processes from planning through to contract establishment
- Promote probity, compliance and best practice, and use procurement data and reporting to drive continuous improvement across the organisation
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Experience leading, mentoring or supervising a small team, with a coaching approach to developing other
- Proven experience managing tenders, RFQs and EOI processes end to end, including contract development and award
- Sound knowledge of procurement best practice, commercial negotiation and contract management, including an understanding of contract law
- A relevant tertiary qualification or substantial equivalent experience, with strong relationship-building skills and a customer-focused approach
