This newly created position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a key member of the Executive Management Team established to strengthen Council's executive leadership capacity, the role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across corporate services, governance, community services, economic development, communications, strategic planning, grant funding, stakeholder relations and work health and safety.
Council is seeking an experienced executive leader who is committed to building organisational capability and creating a high-performing, accountable workplace. The successful candidate will lead a diverse portfolio while strengthening internal systems and processes, mentoring and developing staff, establishing clear policies and procedures, driving a strong safety culture, strengthening governance and compliance, and fostering continuous improvement, innovation and customer-focused service delivery.
To be successful, you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, with postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline highly regarded.
- Demonstrated executive leadership experience within a complex organisation, ideally in Local Government or the public sector.
- Proven financial management, budgeting and resource allocation experience.
- Sound knowledge of governance, compliance, risk management frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to build organisational capability through strategic planning, staff mentoring, leadership development, succession planning and the implementation of effective systems, policies and procedures.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Experience working in remote or regional communities, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing remote local government is desirable.
Benefits
- 2-year performance-based contract
- $190,000 - $200,000 base salary.
