About the role…
Reporting to the General Manager Environment and Infrastructure, the Manager Property and Sustainability is responsible for leading Council's property, buildings and sustainability functions. This is a diverse leadership role that combines strategic planning with hands-on delivery. You will oversee Council's building and property portfolio, lead capital works and maintenance programs, manage property matters and drive sustainability initiatives that contribute to the long-term resilience of the city.
Working closely with Executive, Elected Members, staff, contractors and the community, you will provide leadership and advice on property, placemaking, sustainability and asset related matters while ensuring projects and services are delivered effectively and sustainably.
What you will do…
- Property and Building Management - Lead the management, maintenance, renewal and development of Council's buildings and property assets.
- Capital Projects - Oversee building and facility projects, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, timeframes and quality expectations.
- Property Portfolio Management - Manage leases, licences, acquisitions, disposals and other property-related matters.
- Sustainability Leadership - Drive sustainability initiatives including energy efficiency, emissions reduction, renewable energy and resource efficiency programs.
- Asset Planning - Support long-term planning and decision making to ensure community assets remain fit for purpose and financially sustainable.
- Placemaking - Lead initiatives that enhance the functionality, accessibility and attractiveness of Council facilities, public spaces and community assets.
- Strategic Advice - Provide advice to Executive and Elected Members on property, sustainability, risk and investment priorities.
- Continuous Improvement - Strengthen systems, processes and practices to improve service delivery, asset performance and organisational outcomes.
What they are looking for…
- Experience in property, building, infrastructure or asset management.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects across a range of sizes and complexities.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants and service providers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters.
- Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and delivering operational outcomes.
- Well-developed communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Sound understanding of sustainability principles and their application in infrastructure, property or asset management environments.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and decision-making capability.
- Knowledge of local government, community land management or relevant legislation will be highly regarded.
- Relevant qualifications in property, infrastructure, asset management, project management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
