About the role…
Reporting to the Director Infrastructure & Field Services, the Manager Assets and Capital Works is responsible for leading Council's capital works programs and asset management functions. This role provides leadership across capital project delivery, asset and fleet management planning, project management governance and Council's GIS (spatial asset systems). The position plays a key role in ensuring Council's infrastructure assets are planned, managed and maintained effectively to support service delivery and long term sustainability.
As a member of the Infrastructure & Field Services leadership team, you will contribute to strategic planning, drive continuous improvement and provide direction to a multidisciplinary team delivering significant infrastructure and asset outcomes across the organisation.
What you will do…
- Capital Works Delivery - Deliver Council's capital works program on time, on budget and to agreed standards.
- Asset and Fleet Management - Oversee asset and fleet management planning, renewal programs and maintenance strategies.
- Project Governance - Embed consistent project management practices, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Leadership and People Management - Provide leadership, coaching and support to a skilled and diverse team.
- GIS and Asset Systems - Ensure asset data and systems support effective planning, recording, reporting and decision making.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Work collaboratively with staff, contractors, government agencies and the community.
- Financial and Resource Management - Manage operational budgets, capital expenditure and resource allocation to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services and projects.
- Compliance and Risk Management - Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, safety obligations, procurement frameworks and project governance standards.
What they are looking for…
- Proven leadership experience in asset management, capital works, infrastructure or related environments.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience in developing and implementing asset management strategies and plans.
- Knowledge of GIS, asset systems and infrastructure data management.
- Sound financial, procurement and contract management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
- Relevant qualifications and/or significant experience in asset management, public works, local government or a related field.
- A practical and strategic approach, with a focus on delivering outcomes.
