Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Operations Coordinator to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of infrastructure maintenance and community amenity services across the Shire.
This is a hands-on leadership role with broad scope - reporting to the Manager Operations, you'll oversee construction and civil works, road maintenance, fleet and workshop operations, and community amenity services, while managing a team of supervisors, mechanics and support staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading delivery of the Annual Construction Program and Maintenance Program
- Directing CapEx project planning and execution across civil infrastructure
- Overseeing sealed and unsealed road maintenance, footpaths, playgrounds, shade sails and signage
- Managing Workshop and Fleet functions, including planned and reactive maintenance programs
- Developing and managing capital and operational budgets
About You
You'll bring solid, practical experience in road maintenance operations across both sealed and unsealed environments - this is central to the role. The Shire manages a significant road network across diverse terrain, and we need someone who understands the full lifecycle of road maintenance, from inspection and prioritisation through to programming and delivery.
Beyond that, you'll have:
- Strong project management skills - planning, prioritising and delivering within budget and timeframe
- A degree or diploma in civil engineering or a related discipline, and/or 5+ years in a management or project engineering role
- Proven people management capability, with experience leading and developing operational teams
- Experience in contract management, procurement and risk management
- The ability to develop and implement traffic management plans in accordance with relevant legislation and standards
- Sound knowledge of asset management principles in an operational context
- Current unrestricted C Class driver's licence and White Card
Familiarity with the Kimberley region and its operational challenges (wet season access, extended supply chains, remote works delivery) will be well regarded.
