About the role…
Reporting to the Manager Governance, Community and Development, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for leading Council's day to day human resources function and providing practical advice and support across the employee lifecycle.
This broad generalist role works closely with managers and employees across recruitment, performance management, employee relations, training, organisational development and return to work coordination. The position also plays an important role in maintaining compliance with employment legislation, supporting workplace culture initiatives and contributing to continuous improvement across Council.

What you will do…
- Human resources support - Provide advice, guidance and support across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations and workforce matters.
- Recruitment and onboarding - Coordinate end to end recruitment activities, induction processes and employee lifecycle administration.
- Employee relations - Support managers with performance management, workplace issues, investigations and interpretation of employment related matters.
- Policy and compliance - Assist with the development, review and implementation of HR policies, procedures and employment frameworks.
- Return to work coordination - Support injured workers, rehabilitation programs and return to work plans while liaising with relevant stakeholders.
- Training and development - Assist with identifying training needs, coordinating development initiatives and supporting organisational capability.
- Continuous improvement - Contribute to improving HR systems, processes and organisational practices that support effective service delivery.

- Human resources experience - Experience in a generalist HR role supporting a broad range of people and culture functions.
- Employee relations knowledge - Experience providing advice on performance management, workplace issues, industrial instruments and employment practices.
- Communication skills - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of an organisation.
- Relationship management - Ability to develop positive working relationships with managers, employees and external stakeholders.
- Judgement and discretion - Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and sound judgement.
- Organisation and prioritisation - Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high quality outcomes.
- Continuous improvement mindset - Ability to identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and workplace practices.
- Qualifications - Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline, or equivalent experience and capability.
