Deputy General Manager Assets and Environment

Deputy General Manager Assets and Environment

• Key leadership role in recently formed Metro Council
• Major change agenda
• Key community services

Incorporating the previous Leichhardt, Ashfield and Marrickville Councils, Inner West is one of Australia’s most progressive and community-focused new Councils. Council serves a resident base of approximately 190,000 over 36 square kms from Balmain in the North, Newtown in the East, Tempe in the South and Croydon in the West. They are now looking for a transformational Deputy General Manager to direct the change agenda, set new benchmarks in service excellence and deliver value for money to a vibrant, highly diverse community.

You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance across a broad range of essential community services including Engineering Design, Environmental Sustainability, Waste and Resource Recovery, Roads and Traffic, Parks and Sportsfields, Development Assessment and key Construction projects. To be successful in this role, you will be a transformational leader, not necessarily someone with qualifications in these areas.

You will already be a proven performer at a senior level within a complex regulatory and legislative environment where your focus is on delivering major strategic initiatives. Key specific skills sets will include performance and quality management, business and resource planning, budgeting and process improvement, and an appreciation of political, community and customer interactions in project details. On a personal level, you will have the communication skills and personal credibility to inspire and guide high achieving, multi-disciplinary service areas working on community-sensitive projects.

Apart from highly impressive financial incentives, Council offers a broad range of family-friendly benefits and a warm, collaborative team environment.
